Esmeralda Charity Golf Cup
to aid street children in Columbia

Starting in 2009, we have been the main sponsor of the Zurich-based Limmat Stiftung’s Esmeralda Charity Cup, providing active support for promising development projects in Columbia.

Over its 16-year history, the Golf Cup has become one of the most important events on the Swiss golfing calendar. Its friendly yet competitive atmosphere ensures the event’s popularity. At seven golf tournaments with more than 500 participants in 2011, over CHF 100,000 was raised for street children in Cali and Medellin. Valartis Bank Switzerland will again be the principal sponsor for this charity golf tournament in 2012.

Valartis Bank Snow Polo World Cup with charity prize draw to support young micro-entrepreneurs in Kenya

We are also the principal sponsor of the prestigious Valartis Bank Snow Polo World Cup in Kitzbühel. With the motto “Polo goes Charity” we used the occasion of this tournament to hold a charity prize draw in association with the renowned Austrian development organisation ICEP.

The 2011 and 2012 prize draw proceeds of EUR 50,000 are used to set up a long-term development project for young and ambitious micro-entrepreneurs in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya. Thanks to this support for young entrepreneurs, these people will have the opportunity to develop their business skills and to improve their living situation for themselves.

Donations instead of Christmas presents

We also support various other aid organisations, such as the St. Anna Children’s Cancer Research Institute in Austria and Community Care for Children with Disabilities in Belarus, with financial donations. For some years now Valartis Bank Austria has no longer been giving Christmas presents to clients and business partners, focusing instead on making it possible for children in need to have a future they can look forward to.

Valartis Bank Liechtenstein has its Christmas cards produced by hand at the Special Needs Education Center of the Principality of Liechtenstein. This institution, which provides care to people with disabilities, also packages and sends out the monthly Investment Guide of Valartis Bank Liechtenstein that is published in seven languages.
